Engine repairs

Dear customers and fans of combustion engines, you often ask me what repairing an engine actually means. What it involves, why it costs so much and why somewhere on the internet you can find a “reconditioned engine” for half the price. So let’s be straight about it. An engine repair is not changing the spark plugs. It means stripping the unit down to the last bolt, precisely measuring the clearances, assessing the condition of the key parts and deciding what can still be saved and what cannot. Everything can be done in different ways, just like with furniture. You can have something cheap that somehow works. Or an honest, made-to-measure piece that lasts for years. And it is the same with an engine.

With sports and high-performance engines, the line between profit and a heavy loss is extremely thin. These are no longer repairs for just anyone. In these cases it is important that the engine is handled by someone with real knowledge and experience who understands what they are doing. Every mistake, every wrong setting can show up fatally and expensively. And this is exactly the field I work in. With these engines it is not enough to simply replace something. You have to understand the whole, have a feel for detail and know how to match the mechanics with the electronics so that the engine works exactly as it should and lasts a long time.

Every day I hear “that engine is thirty thousand cheaper on the classifieds”. Sure. But what is really inside it, only the person who built it knows. From me you get an engine that is not only repaired but, above all, verified. New timing, bearings, seals, a check of the turbo and pressures, and even the flatness of the heads. And above all, everything has its history.

Engine repair is part of my work, fortunately for me, unfortunately for you. Many people think that a rebuild is a money-making move. It is not. It is an investment in the life of the car, not a way to save money. And that is exactly why I keep stressing prevention, such as changing the oil on time, listening to your car and not ignoring warning signs. The cheapest repair is the one that never has to happen.

How it works with me

When you entrust me with an engine, I first strip it down completely and go through it to the last bolt. I measure, analyse and document. Only then do I propose the next steps. You decide whether it makes sense to repair the engine. If not, you only pay for the strip-down and diagnostics and you know exactly what is going on. No guesswork, no “it’ll be fine”.

Everything is transparent. During the repair I document every intervention and communication is direct, no surprises, no “you didn’t know that”. And at the end? You get from me a stainless steel card with a QR code that takes you to your personal page with the complete repair history:
– what was replaced
– why it happened
– which parts were used
– when to expect the next service
– how long the warranty is valid

This is not just a “repair”. It is the service story of your engine, which you can look up at any time and be sure that everything makes sense.
